The 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards will return to Austin, Texas, on March 15, during South by Southwest, and they’re definitely getting in the spirit of the annual festival.

First, they announced this year’s nominees, an epically diverse field that includes everyone from Jay-Z and Kanye West, the Black Keys and Skrillex to up-and-comers like Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino and Cloud Nothings. Then they announced the first round of

performers for the first-ever Woodies Fest, a (grammatically adventurous) list topped by Fun., Wallpaper. and A$AP Rocky.

And on Wednesday (February 22), the Woodies announced even more performers for that festival: Chiddy Bang (whom, as you might recall, previously set a Guinness World Record for Longest Freestyle during the inaugural O Music Awards), Gary Clark Jr., Kimbra (of “Somebody That I Used To Know” fame) and British singer Ed Sheeran.

The 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards Festival will take place March 15 down at SXSW and is open to both badge-holders and uncredited music fans alike. The entire fest will also stream live on Woodies.mtvU.com and leads up to the awards themselves. On Sunday, March 18, the best moments from the Woodies will be broadcast in a 30-minute special airing on MTV and mtvU at 8 p.m. ET.

Voting is also under way in all Woodies categories ? including Woodie of the Year and the coveted Best Video Woodie ? and will remain open until March 9. Voting in the Breaking Woodie category will continue during the live show March 15. Fans can cast ballots in all categories through the Woodies’ website, on their mobile phones at M.MTV.com or by texting VOTE to 66333. Standard message and data rates may apply.

The 2012 mtvU Woodies invade SXSW on March 15 with the Woodies Festival. The best of the 2012 mtvU Woodies will air on MTV and mtvU on March 18 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Kardashians are getting ready to add another girl to the clan! On Wednesday (February 22), Kourtney Kardashian revealed to OK! magazine that she and longtime partner Scott Disick ? who have a son together ? are expecting a baby girl in late spring.

“We feel so blessed to be having a little girl and to be able to share this new experience with Mason,” Kourtney told E! News.

The couple’s first child, Mason, celebrated his second birthday in December. And back in November, the reality TV couple announced the happy news, saying that although it was unexpected, they were more prepared this time around.

“It wasn’t like we weren’t trying,” Disick told US Weekly at the time. “We kind of just said, ‘If it’s meant to be, it’ll be.’ ”

MTV News caught up with Kourtney’s sister Khloé in December, and she told us that her big sister had been feeling some of the symptoms typical of early pregnancy.

“She’s good. She’s a little more nauseous this time around, which I feel bad about, but she’s great and it’s so exciting,” Khloé said.

When Kourt’s pregnancy was first announced, proud sis Khloé took to her blog to express her excitement over the new addition to the Kardashian family. “I am BEYOND thrilled to fiiiiinally be able to share with all of you the fabulous news that my beautiful big sister Kourtney is expecting yet again!” she wrote. “Can you believe it?! Masey is going to be a big brother! We are all so overjoyed by this wonderful news and are counting down the minutes until we get to meet the newest member of our family.”

Of course, sister Kim also shared her glee, writing on her blog that she couldn’t wait to become an aunt again: “This is such a blessing and the whole family is beyond thrilled! I just know Mason will make the best big brother and I can’t wait to meet my new little niece or nephew! Congratulations Kourtney and Scott.”

Kourtney and Scott recently wrapped up the second season of “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” along with Kim and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Kris Humphries.

Share your well-wishes for Kourtney and Scott in the comments below!

What’s the point of getting all dolled up for the Grammy Awards if no one notices your outfit? Since not everyone can earn a nomination or score a performance slot, sometimes you have to make your own news by crashing the red carpet with an eye-popping outfit that is sure to get tongues wagging.

It’s anyone’s guess what this year’s attendees will be wearing on Sunday night at the 54th annual awards show, but MTV News will be camped out on the carpet for a full three hours before the festivities kick off and we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for all the outrageous looks and fashions.

Click for photos of our most-shocking Grammy red carpet moments!

In the meantime, we thought it was worth a look back at some of the legendary entrances from Grammys past:

Lady Gaga egg: Sure, Justin Bieber toted his pet snake to last year’s show, but it was, of course, Lady Gaga who turned the most heads by getting carried down the carpet in a giant, see-through egg that she incubated in before emerging later in the night for her performance of “Born This Way.”

Britney gets bodied: Britney Spears has long prided herself on wearing what she wants, when she wants. But someone should have pulled her aside in 2010 before she exited the car in an oddball Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit overlaid with a lace dress that turned heads for all the wrong reasons.

M.I.A.’s pregnancy chic: With her middle finger firmly tucked into place, the rapper/singer made her way into the 2009 show while nine-months pregnant in a cartoony, ruffled blue maternity dress and matching sneakers.

Coldplay play dress up: It was kind of cool when Coldplay stuck with their bold Sgt. Pepper’s-style suits for the whole Viva La Vida tour. But when they wore them to the 2009 show, it just felt … silly.

OK Go … back to the drawing board: Viral icons OK Go are experts at drawing attention to their music with trippy, how-did-they-do-that videos. They drew mostly sniggers, though, when they donned matching brocade curtain-looking red-and-gold suits to the 2007 show. Their smartest move may have been to cover their faces with red cloth.

R. Kelly, man of mystery: Kels has made a career out of being inscrutable , but his bold sartorial choice at the 2004 Grammys was, well, weird. From the neck down he wore an elegant three-button black suit and tie, but the matching Robin mask? Who knows?

Alicia Keys gets funky: Nobody really knows what Keys was thinking in 2002 when she walked the carpet wearing embroidered jeans, sandals, a white tank and a sheer green sari-like shift with a built in, bedazzled headdress.

Toni Braxton lets it all hang out: Sometimes it’s what you don’t wear that gets attention. In 2001, singer Braxton sported a barely-there white “dress” that hardly covered her assets with strips of material that dangled in the front and back.

Jennifer Lopez’s plunging neckline: Way before she was an “American Idol” judge, Lopez sent hearts racing in 2000 with her instantly infamous plunging neckline Versace gown.

Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Don’t miss our Grammy red-carpet live stream this Sunday, February 12, for a full three hours of mayhem, starting at 5 p.m. ET on MTV.com. And the fun doesn’t end Sunday: MTV News has you covered for all the Grammy red-carpet fashion, Grammy winners and Grammy news until the hangover wears off!

High school bullies are one thing. But high school bullies and slasher movie serial killers? It’s hard enough to survive high school as it is! Check out more in this exclusive clip from “Detention,” hitting theaters on April 13 from Samuel Goldwyn Films.

“Detention” is billed as a horror/comedy about a slasher movie serial killer that wreaks havoc on a group of students in their senior year of high school. Josh Hutcherson stars as Clapton Davis, an outspoken athlete with the hots for one of the more popular cheerleaders. But that all takes a backseat when it is discovered that students are being systematically killed off one by one by a mysterious masked madman.

To make matters worse, Clapton and a handful of students are given detention on prom night while all the other seniors are undoubtedly being stabbed to death on the dancefloor. Talk about sitting ducks!

From the looks of the above clip, “Detention” will be having a lot of fun playing with genre conventions. And judging from past experiences, horror movies with a sense of humor are always the best types of horror movies.

“Detention,” from Samuel Goldwyn Films, creeps its way into theaters on April 13th. For more information, you can visit the official “Detention” website.

Nine films are nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year, begging the question: who deserved a tenth spot on that list? “Oscars 2012: 10 Spot” answers that question, as the MTV Movies team highlights some of 2011′s greatest films and argues why they deserved a nod as the tenth Best Picture nominee.

My colleagues have made wonderful cases for several other qualified Best Picture nominees this year; “50/50,” “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” and “Bridesmaids” are definitely deserving of recognition, but none of them top the cinematic achievements of the “Harry Potter” franchise, specifically “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.”

To be clear, I’m lamenting the lack of recognition for the nearly perfect eighth and final Potter film, but we Potter fans cannot deny the fact that the franchise as a whole deserved Best Picture consideration. With “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” having paved the way for fantasy films to resonate with Academy voters as well as the general public, and the fact that 10 films can be nominated, it seemed very likely that The Boy Who Lived had a chance at that nomination.

So why does “Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ deserve the 10 Spot? It is the best of the bunch, hitting all the notes that those rare four-quadrant films need to hit. There is action, romance, solid character development with emotional, sweeping arcs, a killer cast, game-changing visual effects… the list goes on.

Speaking of the killer cast, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we will never see another franchise do what “Potter” did with its actors. Not only did the casting directors select the most perfect talent for the lengthy list of characters, they were able to keep the core cast members signed on for eight films over the course of a decade of filming! That just does NOT happen in this day and age of studios and agents wanting to make a quick buck and flash-in-the-pan fame. We got to see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton et al actually grow up onscreen and grow as actors. Time will tell with regard to their futures in Hollywood, but their performances in “Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ were their best work to date.

And then there’s Alan Rickman. Just thinking about J.K. Rowling’s heartbreakingly brilliant arc for Severus Snape – that flashback to Lily’s death! Woe is me re-living the heartbreak pains I suffered alongside Snape in that moving, defining moment! – almost has me tearing up at my keyboard. Rickman knew about Severus’ story long before any of us did, which makes his amazingly nuanced and controlled performance over the years (and in this film especially) that much more amazing. Severus Snape wasn’t voted the best Harry Potter character ever by our MTV readers for nothing, after all.

Finally, let’s take a moment to appreciate director David Yates, as well as all the other award-winning folks who took turns helming Potter films: Christopher Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, and Mike Newell. Rarely do book-to-film adaptations translate so well and so successfully and each and every director who tackled a “Potter” film added something special to the franchise under their direction.

Again, when will such amazing and dramatic achievements occur again in cinema? The “Harry Potter” franchise is a perfect storm of so many elements, the proverbial lightning in a bottle that can not be duplicated. A Best Picture nomination was more than a little bit deserved.

The MTV Movies team has the 2012 Oscars covered! Stick with us for everything you need to know leading up to the awards show, and on Sunday, February 25, tune into MTV.com at 5:30 p.m. ET for our three-hour red-carpet live stream and updates on the night’s big winners.

It’s sort of hard to figure out what Peter Berg’s angle is. The same guy who directed the original superhero flick “Hancock” also gave us the wonderful teen TV drama and movie “Friday Night Lights.” He also gave us serious thrillers like “The Kingdom.” His latest film “Battleship” — a blockbuster adaptation of the classic game — also seems at first to come out of left field, but Berg promised MTV News that his involvement in the veritable “Transformers”-meets-”Armageddon” blockbuster actually makes sense.

Turns out that this type of film has been a cause close to his heart for a while now. Even though Berg has directed a variety of movies, he’s always wanted to do one set in the ocean, and “Battleship” gave him the opportunity to do that.

“I’ve been trying to do a movie set in the water for a long time. My dad was a naval historian, he used to drag me to every Navy museum in the world, anywhere we could go,” Berg told MTV News at Toy Fair. “I’ve always wanted to do a movie about the Navy.”

But it was more than that. Berg said that he also has always wanted to do a big movie, something even bigger than “Hancock.” Berg felt that it was his time to do a summer blockbuster, and that “Battleship” was the film to do it with.

“I call these movies, they’re like kind of ‘super’ movies now and they go out all around the world. Movies like ‘Transformers,’ ‘G.I. Joe,’ ‘Battleship;’ these films have such big reach. For me it made sense,” Berg said. “Now to actually see all this kind of cross-marketing and see with the Hasbro machine kicking in, it’s kind of awesome.”

When Lady Gaga officially launches her Born This Way Foundation on February 29, she’ll be joined by the one-time queen of daytime TV, Oprah Winfrey.

The singer and former talk-show host will be joined by Mother Monster’s own mother, Cynthia Germanotta, at the Harvard University event to kick off the foundation, which aims to inspire young people. The affair will be captured for a future episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” on her OWN network.

“My mother and I have initiated a passion project. We call it the Born This Way Foundation,” Gaga said in a statement last November about the foundation, which takes its name from her hit single and album. “Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment.”

The foundation will work with a number of partners, including the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. According to the statement, the foundation will focus on “youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as one of the means to create positive change.”

“My daughter’s foundation was born out of her passion to create a better world where people are kinder and nicer to one another and are accepted for who they are, regardless of how different they may be,” Mama Germanotta said. “She has experienced many of the struggles that our youth encounter today, and identifies with the lasting effects they can have without proper support. Together, we look forward to creating a new movement that will engage and empower youth and accept them as valuable members of our society.”
