New Year’s Eve is the last chance you’ll have to party in 2011. And as the days to plan out your big night begin to dwindle, MTV News is rounding up some of the biggest parties on the planet. From Los Angeles to New York, there’s something for everyone.

The Kardashians will be hosting several parties all over Las Vegas. Kim will be at Tao (for a fee of reportedly $600,000), Kourtney, along with the Madden Brothers, will party it up at Chateau Nightclub & Gardens at Paris while Rob has it on lock at Tryst.

Other big Sin City parties include Chris Brown’s shindig at Pure, Mary J. Blige’s bash at RPM Nightclub, Bruno Mars at The Bank and B.o.B at LAX (the club, not the airport). Fergie and will.i.am will both be in Vegas to ring in 2012. The Black Eyed Peas’ leading lady will be at 1OAK, while will.i.am be DJing at Surrender. Professional party rockers LMFAO will be shufflin’ all night long at Haze Nightclub at Aria. Newly engaged John Legend will perform at the Palms with T-Pain and Paul Oakenfold.

As celeb-filled as it may seem, not all the stars will be in Vegas. In Los Angeles, Mario Lopez is hosting a party at Hollywood & Highland that boasts performances by Lupe Fiasco and Cobra Starship. And in Chicago, “American Idol” alum Lee DeWyze will be at the Hard Rock Hotel with DJ Chris Kennedy (Chris Masterson) spinning tunes. Kanye West’s plans have yet to be determined, but he recently tweeted he’s looking for a place to DJ right into 2012. We’re sure someone will find a place for him at their party.

New York is the home of all things New Year’s. Lady Gaga has been booked to perform on two NYE specials: the 40th annual “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” and the Japanese program “Kohaku Uta Gassen.”

For those who want to snuggle up on their couch and avoid all the partying madness, MTV has your back. This year Demi Lovato, Mac Miller, Selena Gomez, J. Cole, Jason Derulo and more will be on hand for “NYE in NYC 2012,” which will air live at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday (December 31) from Times Square, where the famous ball drops on, you guessed it, MTV.

On Friday, Russell Brand filed for divorce from his pop-star wife, Katy Perry, after only a year of marriage. With the new year on the horizon, more details about what led to their split are emerging.

Sources told Us Weekly that the couple always fought, but in the time leading up to the divorce filing, the arguments had gotten more heated, leading to one “massive fight.”

“She was like, ‘F— you. I’m going to do my own thing.’ Russell replied, ‘Fine, f— you too,’ ” the source explained.

See a timeline of Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s relationship.

Meanwhile, other sources close to the couple told E! News that the twosome had spent “a lot of time apart” as of late and that they have been having a number of “problems.” TMZ further reports that those separate vacations were planned so that neither party would be in L.A. when the papers were filed.

The couple had been having problems for some time, and after trying to make it work, TMZ sources add that “it just wasn’t there” anymore. Brand eventually filed for divorce first due to Perry’s strong religious beliefs and background.

Other reports suggest that Brand and Perry may have had differing views about how they wanted to live their lives. The Daily Mail reports that recovering drug addict Brand didn’t approve of Perry’s friends (like fellow pop star Rihanna). He had reportedly asked her to “tone it down.”

The split may be surprising for some given that in the past few weeks, the former couple had gushed about one another in various interviews. When Brand stopped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” he steadfastly denied that he and Perry had plans to divorce. “There are always rumors, aren’t there? In the end, you have to just not engage with Internet technology, which is difficult, because a lot of the nude-women websites I quite enjoy,” he joked.

“I’ve treated the whole Internet now like it’s a wicked little liar,” he added. “Yeah. I am really happily married. I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge.”

In fact, when MTV News spoke to Perry at rehearsals for her “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig earlier this month, she noted that she was getting lots of advice from her soon-to-be ex-husband. “My husband, of course, every day I call him and I’m like, ‘This happened,’ and he’s like, ‘I know what that means, and here’s the next play-by-play for tomorrow,’ so he’s gotten me really prepared for this week, thankfully.”

Whatever happens next for these two in 2012, the comedian noted in a statement that he hoped to remain friends with Perry. “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I will always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.” Perry has remained mum since the news broke.

The couple kicked off their love affair at the 2009 VMAs when Brand was hosting and Perry was on hand as one of the night’s performers. They later got engaged in India during a New Year’s vacation months later. The pair married in a lavish affair in India in 2010. News of their split comes days after they sparked split rumors when they were seen separately over the Christmas holiday sans wedding rings.

Anything can happen on the red carpet at any given awards show, and in 2011, it felt like anything that could happen did. As MTV News reflects on some of the biggest moments of the year, we decided to remember some of the most-memorable things A-listers did live right in front of us all.

Lady Gaga’s Egg
In February, Gaga had everyone guessing how she would arrive to the Grammys. Given her penchant for crazy looks, no one would have guessed she would have showed up in an egg. Designed by Hussein Chalayan, Gaga later emerged from the structure to proclaim that she was “Born This Way.”

Snooki
Speaking of the Grammys, the reality star joined MTV News’ own Sway Calloway to talk to all the stars at the show. After helping us out on the 2010 red carpet, we learned that anything is possible with Snooki, and 2011 solidified that she’s the fieriest “meatball” to grace the “Jersey Shore.” We wonder if she and Bruno Mars ever ended up dating.

Paul McDonald and Nikki Reed
“Twilight” star Nikki Reed surprised everyone when she hit up the MTV Movie Awards in June. No, she hadn’t borrowed Gaga’s egg: She was rocking an engagement rock from her beau and “American Idol” alum Paul McDonald. The couple used the red carpet as the platform to announce their engagement, and married in October.

Beyoncé’s Baby Bump
She might have rubbed that burgeoning baby bump onstage at the Video Music Awards in August, but hours before she took the stage, donning a bright orange gown, Beyoncé let the paparazzi know she was expecting her first child with hubby Jay-Z by flaunting her pregnancy glow.

Justin Bieber’s Snake
While Beyoncé shared with the world her baby news, Bieber not only planted a kiss on VMA pre-show host and real-life lady love Selena Gomez, but also introduced her to his pet snake. His name? Johnson. She seemed less interested in the snake than perhaps he would have liked.

Not everyone can make the transition from early ’90s rapper/underwear model to Academy Award-nominated actor. Over the years, Mark Wahlberg proved he could break the mold, and he’s hoping to do that again with Michael Bay for “Pain and Gain,” the director’s small true-life passion project about Miami bodybuilders turned kidnappers.

Wahlberg spoke with MTV News while promoting his new crime thriller “Contraband” and opened up about making the move to comedy with Bay at the helm.

“We’re talking about ['Pain and Gain'],” Wahlberg said. “We’ve got to figure it out, scheduling and all that stuff. It’s a possibility. It’s a great script. [Bay has] got a great take on it and how he wants to do it.”

Bay has never exactly been known for smaller-scale work, but his potential star knows exactly what it’s like to go against type.

“It’s a scary thing, but [Bay is] so talented. I don’t think there’s anything he can’t do,” Wahlberg said. “He was just so good at doing that. It just took on a life of its own with all the fleet of planes and homes and everything that he has, ‘But wait. Let me go back and show people how talented I am.’”

And Wahlberg can relate. After playing a vulnerable porn star in “Boogie Nights,” the tough guy roles he’d become known for dried up.

“It’s a risk. Anytime you do something people don’t expect or it’s not your comfort zone or sweet spot, then people might question it at first. I’m faced with that every time out,” he said, recalling his “Boogie Nights” experience. “I was getting the script, and I was like, I should play this part. The guy is like, ‘We need a guy like Marky Mark. The guy’s tough.’ I’m looking at this guy, like are you serious? I had just done ‘Boogie Nights’ and he had just seen that and was like, ‘We need a guy who is really edgy and street tough.’ I was like, ‘Give me a shot.’”
